Woah. They asked for beginners and Correne decided she would try to take the test instead of just giving in to the fact that I don´t know much Spanish. The oral portion was definitely easier than the written. We are supposed to get a phone call tonight to let us know what level of Spanish class we will start in tomorrow.
It is pretty cold at night here - close to freezing actually. There is no heat in the house, but lots of blankets on our beds. Thankfully, we also decided to bring our sleeping bags. I am pretty certain we are going to have to purchase a few warmer items so I don´t freeze...we did not bring warm enough clothes for a peruvian winter. I guess it´s better than spending 90 degree days in Denver right now! The days here in Cusco are sunny and in the 60´s - perfect for touring around the city.
We found out today we are heading to an orphanage called Casa Azul in a small village about 45 minutes by bus outside of Cusco. We will go tomorrow moring for a tour and to meet the staff, and we´re assuming will begin our placement tomorrow afternoon. We work for 3 hours/day, but are welcome to spend more time there if we would like to. The pan (bread) in this village is supposed to excellent, so we´re looking forward to loading up on that whenever we have a chance. We also found out today at orientation the best places to eat, shop, etc. while we are in Cusco. So much information was given it makes us feel like we are not going to be around long enough to explore it all.
